On behalf of the Norwegian Society for Medical Informatics (FDH) we invite you to join us for the 23rd International Medical Informatics Conference — MIE2011 in Oslo, Norway, August 28th to 31st, 2011. The conference is hosted in collaboration with the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI), and brings together the Health Informatics Community; decision makers, researchers, health care professionals and leading edge industry. Part of MIE2011 will take place at Akershus University Hospital. In 2008 this hospital moved into new buildings, and counts among the most technologically advanced health care facilities in Europe. By 2011, three years of experience will be presented. The theme of MIE2011 is “User Centred in Networked Health Care”. We aim to highlight real user experiences in increasingly socially and technologically networked health care. The chosen theme also emphasizes the Scandinavian tradition of participatory design; the crucial importance of the user’s contributions to systems development and sustainable use when health care professional is part of (virtual) teams with colleagues and patients. MIE2011 will also include a special Telemedicine Track, organised together with the Norwegian Centre for Integrated Care and Telemedicine, and a Scandinavian Health Informatics Track. MIE2011 invites contributions to focus on challenges and strategies for user involvement, to critically assess current developments and new perspectives for the future of health informatics, and share insights for design, deployment, and sustainable health informatics applications. We especially encourage young researchers to submit and share ideas and findings from their work. A visit to Norway is also an opportunity to enjoy the Scandinavian beauty of breathtaking mountains and fjords, vibrant cities and towns, ancient cultures and amazing wildlife. We invite you to participate and share your views as presenter of a paper or poster, demonstrator of an application, panel participant, exhibitor or delegate.
